Alexandra Ray, of Five Senses Art Consultancy is proud to participate in an outdoor space this year, showing the concept of using photography in a garden space.
A photograph of Antonio Canova's Neo-classical sculpture of Psyche and Cupid has center stage in this charming courtyard setting. The idea of using black and white photography outdoors is perhaps a little unexpected. A single timeless image in a weatherproofed light-box structure that also acts as a light source at night is on display. The pristine surface of Canova's marble figures appear so real in the photograph that it entices the viewer to bask in the intimacy. Here Psyche touches the wings of a butterfly, which symbolizes her offering her soul to Cupid, and is a true testament to young love.
Frank Eddy of Neo-American Gardens, has insured that the mood of the planting is contemporary and clean, echoing the simplicity of the image itself. The colors of the garden are fresh greens with accents of white. The floating white peonies in a shallow pool lend a hint of unapologetic romance.
